DD's First Craft Show!

Hey everyone! If I haven't talked my ear off about this, you are missing out! December 5th was my first ever craft show! It was held at the Spanish Schoolhouse, something like a daycare place where they teach kids from ages 2-5 Spanish. From looking at the place, it is fairly new and they are trying to get their name out there. In turn, they wanted to hold a Holiday Extravaganza, filled with food, family fun, kids shows, and tables for us artists. There were even some other Etsians that I had the pleasure of meeting! :)

So the morning of the show started a bit crappy, because I reserved a table yet they couldn't give me one. And so, I finally spoke to someone who understand
s more English and she gave me a kids table. At first, I was a bit iffy, but after a while, I grasp the concept of it. I mean, I sell "Japanese" trend things, and it's low where p
eople have to kneel... so hey, it's Japanese-y right? Haha. Sorry, my mind is a bit weird.

Anywho. That's the pic of what my table looks like! Does it look overwhelming? Everyone says it gives them more options and more things to look for! But I felt it's a bit overwhelming... But I guess I can learn when I do more shows whenever I can :)
Also, that's one of my best friend that's covering her face. She definitely doesn't like her picture taken, even if the attention is not to her, HAHA!

The following are the pictures of what I sold at the show. I had to cut down to put in the items I haven't even listed on Etsy yet! So the buyers who got the smores necklaces and the beautiful crystal flower rings are the first to get it! Lucky them.

And these are my little helpers! The one on the left is my little sister, and the one on the right is her best friend. And of course, I made my sis wear a UT Santa hat. Go Longhorns!

Beautiful sign that my sister worked on! Thanks so much <3

And finally, the boxes from behind the table.

All in all, I did pretty well for my first show :) I sold more than I expected, but what's important is getting the shop's name out there! The business cards went out like crazy! I'm glad to hear people are saying what they like and asking questions on the meaning of kawaii. And they seem so into the Japanese culture that I set out! I hope some of the people I met will truly buy online :) Because seriously, they are the best! Especially the little girls! They constantly come over and just gush over the miniatures. The boys will come over and ask if their moms or their girlfriends would like it, hahah. Sooooo cute. Well, I hope to hear from them.

So that's my day! This definitely just makes me want to attend more craft fairs and shows! And I definitely got a feel of it, and know what to do, and NOT to do.

Showing off (Christmas) Items Edition!

Hi everyone!
For those who continue to read my blog posts, I'm glad! I hope I do not bored you all. I know I should update often, but sometimes, I dunno what to blog about or if I'm too busy crafting or just being a mommy.

Since Christmas is coming up, what better way than to post about my Christmas items :D

To keep up with the holidays, I've come up with making some clay goodies for that holidays. If some have checked out my shop in October, I made some cute pumpkins, ghosts, and candy corn! For Christmas, I made some donuts (with the traditional red and green colors), candy canes, holiday pudding... There are more in the works, but I'm still trying to brainstorm for what screams Christmas.
All of these charms are made out of clay, with my two hands! So you know there is lots of love in there. You can get these as earrings, necklaces, rings, or just plain charms!!

For the much more kawaii side, I got some adorable gingerbread houses and cupcakes!! Need I say more? How cute are they?!?! And so sweet... I wanna munch on them :3
I must admit, the cupcakes are somewhat hard to make. I have to ask some experts (like HelloKewpie) on how this thing works, heehee. And it took me forever to find the right size to make these cupcakes as rings! But in the end, it turned out pretty good.
For the gingerbread houses, I've seen around on Etsy several times. To make it different, I mixed and match the whole set. There are even some other pieces that I put that wasn't even in the set.

And as a final note: I take custom orders to make Christmas much more special! Currently, I'm kind of "specializing" in deco'ing cases. So far, I've done some Nintendo DS cases and about to upload an iPhone case soon. I already took two custom orders on deco'ed cases (one for the iPhone, another for the Env Touch). So if you are into deco-den and would like your own case, just drop a message! I would be glad to help you out with that! It can go as low as $20, and as high as $80. But of course, that's an estimate. It might change.

Happy shopping!! Just 37 more days until Christmas!!

Happy November!

Hello everyone! November is upon us and I can feel the cold coming in, literally! Texas is getting freezing cold and I'm definitely excited to bring out my jackets and long sleeved shirts. I truly adore the winter weather.

Of course, I haven't been blogging much. Little Lilly has been getting more and more active, that I am starting to lose sleep just to craft! But I don't mind one bit, I'm quite use to the whole "6 hours of sleep" thing since high school. Hahaha =____=;;

I'm excited, this is my first year of being an Etsy seller during the holidays!! I would really loooove to hear tips from you "veterans". Like, when should I start listing Christmas items? Should I even have Christmas or festive items? What should I expect? So on and so forth. I'm quite nervous, and even more nervous that I probably won't sell much! Just like last month in October! I believe that is my slowest month since I re-opened back in July.

I hope everyone had a fantastic Halloween, because I know I did! Although it was cut short on the trick-or-treating because of the kids, I still enjoyed it immensely, celebrating it with my daughter and some dear, close friends. She had a blast, if some of you are wondering. She loved the idea of people giving her candy and having little kids around her that can truly understand her (gosh, how I wish I knew what babies are talking about!).

Before I forget: festive bubble mailers are coming to my shop! These are great to package your items up to your customers! I know I do them and many have complimented on how awesome it is and it makes them feel special. All bubble mailers are cut from scrapbook paper and glued by me. I know I'll be using them, and maybe, it'll be a great idea for you! It's perfect for jewelry, cards, small items... :) Will be up soon!

Lolita and Bodyline Review

You've seen Lolita. You've heard Lolita. But what exactly is Lolita? Here is the definition of Lolita that I got from this Lolita website:

Lolita is a Japanese street fashion inspired primarily by the clothing and general aesthetics of the Rococo and Victorian periods.

Lolita is a lifestyle, to some people. I wish to have a Lolita lifestyle, but with a baby, it's not easy. Especially when you are living in the States and constantly have to buy overseas or you don't live near a Japantown. But anywho, I dreamed of being a Lolita, even if it's for a day. And for that one day, I want to show others how it's not all costume or cosplay like (which is a HUGE no-no to Lolita, more details on that website). So for Halloween, I plan on being a Lolita, staying as true as I can.

But alas, I think I made my first mistake for buying at Bodyline. Hardcore Lolitas are against Bodyline, because of the cheap fabric, copied patterns, and the length of the dress/skirt. I, for one, thought it was cheap, acceptable, and because I am still a beginner, thought it looked good. So here's my review for Bodyline...

I shopped on Saturday (10/17) night, around 8 PM, central time. After placing an order, I thought "Okay, it might arrive just in time for Halloween." On Sunday, I got an email saying it's sent, and is well on it's way. The shipping is provided by DHL, which also has tracking. So throughout Sunday and Monday, I kept a close eye on the tracking. Around 2 AM today, I saw it's in Texas! Wow, fast shipping indeed! I got so excited.

The package came around 2 PM and I jumped with glee. It was carefully packaged, and neatly folded in this bag/package:
And the dress, overall, is adorable and cute! I heard constantly on the net that the fabric Bodyline have is shiny. Upon inspection, it doesn't look shiny. Especially if you are standing far away, or even right next to the person. But if you inspected VERY closely, about an inch away from the fabric, you can see a bit of shine. But isn't that what polyester does? Make fabric shiny? This dress is made out of cotton polyester, which I don't see much shine except from the ribbons.
The dress is one size, which I'll admit, is a bit of a downer, because you don't get to choose your size. But it seemed to fit me perfectly! You can adjust because it's elastic, and the laced ribbons on the back is adjustable, of course. The skit lenght covers well over my knees, which is a HUGE yes for Lolita dresses. So I guess, if you are tall, it wouldn't work. But since I'm short, it's on my side.

Along with the dress, it came with a small hat and apron. I don't plan on wearing the hat, or the apron... Tho the apron made me a bit unsure because it said Alice in Wonderland... If I've known that, I should've gotten blue instead of pink!
Overall, Bodyline is a thumbs-up for me. But if I want to make Lolita as a lifestyle, I guess I wouldn't go there. But wearing this once or twice, I am highly satisfied!

Not so little treats!

After some successful months filled with sales, I decided to treat myself into buying some cute and cool memo pads straight from Japan! Where else? Kamio, CruX, Q-Lia.... It's endless! Also, I thought ahead and thinking about getting some Halloween items to... Well, why don't you find out yourself?

First off, I got some Alice in Wonderland memo pads, by Q-Lia. Although, on the front, it says Silhouette of Wonderland... But it is Alice in Wonderland in silhouette. Teehee. Each of the memo pads have about eight different designs. And there are about five kinds of these! Gah! I only chose two, in hopes of savoring them as much as I can.

Next, Kamio fairytale characters! They are so cuuuuute!!! My favorite would have to be Alice in Wonderland, of course. This also features Peter Pan, Red Riding Hood, Snow White, The Three Pigs, Little Mermaid, Wizard of Oz, and Pinocchio. The picture on the side is just the cover, inside has the others I named that you might not see on the cover.

And this cute small one is just a couple of felt animals with sweets! Oh how I wish I bought more, for each memo pads come with two designs...

I thought this is so cool that I didn't even think of what I am going to use it for! Calorie Counter stickers! Each food shaped sticker is named with it's calories. Haha, how funny! I wonder if it's true...
Kamio fairytale stickers. So much loooove.

Finally, the Halloween stickers that I adore!

I spent one hour on grouping them and separating them. Final results?

I wonder who is getting one of these lovely packets? ;)

I am definitely getting more in the future to celebrate some awesome sales I'm getting. So far, October seems to be the slowest month for me. Hope it'll pick up by the holidays for I have awesome ideas! But I won't say anything. ;)

Now off I go to gush over them before little Lilly realize I have more interesting things than her toys. -hides-

Oh where are my packages?!

My creativity juices are slowly depleting, and I'm DYING to start crafting again. Last time I updated, I mentioned about my daughter's first birthday. Sadly, I couldn't celebrate it for she had a fever. This definitely made me upset, and I hoped for it to go away. On Thursday, it went away when I took her to an one year checkup (figures!), and they said nothing seem to be wrong, even when I told about the fever. My aunt suspected an incoming tooth, but I have yet to see it... Luckily, it went away on Saturday! Hooray!

Because of the fever, I didn't do much crafting and just stayed by Lilly's side. During that period, I hoped that some packages I order would come in. And none did. This definitely made me wonder if the post have been slacking off. Even items I sent out, people convo me and ask. Luckily, some do receive it within a week within the country, and two weeks internationally.

-Now time for the good news-
Oh, and happy October! :D My grandmother is finally home! This definitely made me happy and giggly. She brought back some yummy California goodies and things! Oh how I miss Cali...

Also, after counting my sales for last month, 40 sales!! Awesome! I think it's a fluke, for this one person bought ten items :D Oh, what a blessing! My goal for this month is 30 items... Don't think I can do it, especially with my lack of supplies AND muse... oh where are you?

Feature!!! Whoohoo!!

Special Birthday Sale and more

Hello everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend, I know I did! On Saturday, I started a HUGE sale in my shop: everything is 30% off! This is the celebrate Lilly's first birthday! Just put "Lilly's 1st" on the message to seller. And yes, if you buy now with that 30% discount, you are still entered into that giveaway I'm holding right now!

Which, btw, there's only about 10 people entered. =/ What am I doing wrong? Is it because my handmade mirror is crappy? You don't like tea cups? I'm not to be pushy with the giveaway, but man, this is kind of sad.. haha. Maybe I should just giveaway things I bought. xD

As I mentioned, my daughter is turning one tomorrow (Wed)! On Saturday, I held a birthday party for her with my friends. She received lots of toys and clothes for the winter! What a lucky gal. She even got a Build-A-Bear from her Godfather! He is definitely spoiling her rotten. Sadly, she was tired by the time the party started, so we rushed into presents and cake. She was a good sport, but once I put her down for a nap, she was knocked out! She woke up when the party was about to end!

Then, on Sunday, my family and I went out to P.F.Changs for dinner. Delicious! Usually, when I go with my friends, we get our own things and I share with my ex. This time, we ordered lots of food and just shared! One of the many reasons why I love eating with family.

Coming up this week, Lilly's actual birthday, her one year appointment, and then, my grandmother comes home! I can't wait! I have to clean up the house again tho, and start getting ready for more supply shopping for the holidays! Eeep! Any tips?

By the way, I've been featured!!
princesschibi: Here! Although it's a long time ago, I'm still very happy it! Thanks meimei!

TokyoBunnie: Here! Loooove this blog :)

Friday Features: Leakhena

FRIDAY FEATURES PROUDLY PRESENTS:
Leakhena as FEATURED SELLER

Okay, everyone, I know some of you are going to "dislike" me for this, but one day, when I was a noob, I entered the FS room. Yes, the FS room. Don't blame me, I was a curious one. As I sit and watch it unfold, I realized how I can make sales. And voila, I met Leakhena. She is such a sweet girl. I bought from her once for a mother's day gift (for myself, HAHA!), and she bought from me... And soon, a friendship formed. She is always there to support me when I need it, and we would whisper just to chat in the FS room (haha, we are so bad). And so, give it up for Leakhena!! She's a great Etsian :)

Me: Tell us a bit about yourself - name, location, affiliations, personal stuff.
Leakhena: Hi! My name is Leah. I'm 28 years old and I currently reside in the beautiful city of San Francisco, CA. I'm the owner, creator of everything related to my shop- Leakhena. Jewelry making is one of many creative outlets I've enjoyed pursuing, along with baking, my first love, photography and the occasional crochet creation. Although, I enjoy anything and everything relating to arts, jewelry has been my main focus. I started making jewelry pieces for my family and friends and I've received great compliments.
In 2006, someone very close to me died in a motorcycle accident. I kept myself busy, working and creating. It was my way of grieving and also healing. I was raised mostly in Sydney, Australia but have also lived in Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand for a few years because my parents were missionaries to those countries.
I have a golden retriever named Cotton whom I have rescued from the shelter. He's currently the only man in my life (haha).

Me: Apart from creating things, what do you do?
Leakhena: I really enjoy cooking and baking. I love cooking and entertaining my friends. Since my family is far away, my freinds have become my 2nd Family. I'm a workout fanatic. I love yoga and meditation. I enjoy being outdoors, going to the beach, hiking, fishing, you name it but aside from that, I love to be constantly creating. It makes me happy. I'm also a bit of a home body. I enjoy playing my violin, singing, cooking at home, writing (well, blogging, these days) taking long walks with my dog

Me: What first made you want to become an artist?
Leakhena: Wow! Being called an artist is such a honor but it makes me feel a little awkward for some reason. I’m not sure that I am one. Maybe I’m still in the process of becoming one?? I’ve always been creating things for as long as I can remember. I grew up in a big family. As a kid I was very fortunate to have two creative and loving parents who were extremely supportive of my artistic endeavours and enrolled each one of us in some sort of music or art classes. My Amazing Parents- I love them both so much. They allowed me to be myself, to have the desire to create Art. In fact, if you visit my home in Sydney, you can still see my old room filled with paintings and other things my parents have kept over the years. They even allowed me to redesign many rooms throughout the house; this, I believe, it what sparked my interest in all things artsy.

Me: Please describe your creative process how, when, materials, etc.
Leakhena: My creative process is pretty open to interpretation. I'm kind of 50/50. I'm very organized but I tend to be messy when I work. Does that make sense?? I guess inspiration often hits me at random times. I'm inspired by everything around me. After I get an idea, I'll sit down with my handy dandy notebook and write down everything before I forget, since I have short attention span. Each item I make is a challenge and I’m always learning new things.
I am a bit of a Pefectionist. when I like an idea or theme I tend to work on it for quite a while seeing where it takes me- before I decide to list them.

Me: What handmade possession do you most cherish?
Leakhena: When my Grandmother was still alive, back when I was still living in Sydney, we did a lot sewing projects together. I really valued our time spent together. I remembered when I was about 7 or 8 we worked on this blanket together. It took us many hours to complete. 20 years later and I still have that blanket. Its a great reminder of what a loving person she was and all the wonderful things she has taught me .

Me: Name your top five books, movies, songs/musical groups, and web sites besides Etsy.
Leakhena:
Books:
The Holy Bible (It’s the all time best seller)
You: Staying Young- Dr. Oz & Dr. Roizen
The Best Life Diet- Bob Greene
Women &Money: Owning the Power to Control your Destiny- Suze Orman
Healing the Soul of America- Marianne Williamson

Music: I listen to a wide range of music. Almost anything and everything that sounds good.
I love Celine Dion- my all-time favorite singer. I love Jazz! I love all songs by Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong. I also enjoy listening to Bach, Mozart and Andre Bocelli.
Currently I'm listening to - Flo Rida, Beyonce, Neyo, Shayne Ward,Coldplay, Shania Twain and many more...

Websites: FoodNetwork, FoodFit, Get Rich Slowly, Facebook, Pandora, Myspace

Me:
What advice would you give to artists who are new to Etsy?
Leakhena: First of all, Be Persistent. Have Patient. You may not make your first sale for a few weeks or even months - but don't give up! Keep creating and make your shop the best it can be. Strive for bright, clear pictures, informative listings and great customer service. And don't forget to promote yourself offline, as well as online. Its all about Networking. I am very fortunate to have met many wonderful artists on etsy. They are my inspiration!

Me:What are your favorite features on Etsy? What new features would you like to see?
Leakhena: Idk.. maybe help the listing process to go faster?? that would be great!!

Me: How do you promote your work?
Leakhena:
My blog: http://mzleakhena.blogspot.com/
My Myspace: http://www.myspace.com/456148333
My Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#/pages/Leakhena/103022467083?ref=ts

Me: In ten years, where would you like to be?
Leakhena: Happily married. I'd like to be a wonderful wife to my husband, a loving mother of children. A successful woman as an artist and a businesswoman. A helpful individual in my community, still creating and doing what I love.

And there you have it! :D Hope everyone enjoys my featured seller of this week! I promise to do more of these, when I find the time. v.v

So close...!

Hey everyone!

This past week has been filled with lots of happiness and irritation.

IRRITATION: I had a couple of buyers who didn't pay, so I have to cancel their transaction, even after trying to contact them. Then, there are people who haven't pay yet. Seriously, what is up with people buying fruitlessly and not paying? Do they expect us to send the items straight away? Or is it that we will hold onto the items for them? Either way, I'm laying down the law on that. I'm getting quite tired of this.

HAPPINESS: I'm close to 100 sales! I just need ONE more. ONE! That's crazy. I can't believe I'm almost at 100 sales after being on Etsy for about six months. Also, I'm getting lots of reserves and custom listings for buyers. I just hope those who reserve items can pay at the time they said. If not, I'll have to bother them.. again =___=;;

More to that happiness is doing some trades/swaps! Whoohoo! I just entered myself into my first kawaii swap and I'm so excited for that! Also, I made a pretty close friend of my a custom listing, which I'm shipping out to her college in Chicago! What a great idea for a care package :D

So please, help me get that 100th sale! That way, I can reveal the special giveaway!
...Actually, take your time. I still need to decide what to do xD

It's September

Hey everyone! It's September and already I know it's going to be a busy month! First, it's my daughter's FIRST birthday! I'm excited! I believe she'll be having three birthday parties: one with my friends, one with the family, and another with friends. Then, there is homecoming at my high school, which I plan on attending with some close friends. Also, this is a chance to show my teachers the baby.

Oh, so I remember setting a goal for August... 450 hearts and 15 sales...
It is ACHIEVED! Yaaaay!! I now stand with over 500 hearts and 25 sales!! Yesssss!!! I'm so excited!

The new goal for September will be for only sales... Hearts are not included lol.
I'm aiming for 25 sales. If I could do it last month, surely this month will be the same :)

I said I would do something special for ya'll if I met my goal, but instead, I'll put it off. I'm close to 100 sales and that itself means giveaway. :) Sssshhh...

Well, I'm off to the chatrooms. Happy sales!

Happy Back to School!

First off, Happy Back to School to the people I know that are going back to school today!! Today is my sister's first day in 8th grade, her last year in junior high. Many luck to you, even tho you don't need it!

And to make this day even better, I got a hand drill yesterday! One of my best friends (also godfather to my daughter) took me to Wal-mart and searched high and low for the perfect one. Usually, we would be able to find it right away, but they changed everything AND there was a lot of kids shopping for school supplies! So I got it! Yaaaay! Along with that, got some acrylic paint for my clay products (demo run to see what I can sell at the anime conventions).

Well, just a quick update. Gotta go make dinner now!!

Not Handmade Enough

So, today was a pretty bad day, for me. Although I got a sale in, and three sales two days ago, it still hurts me. But then again, it's something that I question myself.

As many people know, there are anime conventions, which I planned on attending to sell and just have fun. As I joined one of their forums, I asked if it's alright to sell scrabble tile pendants (very popular on Etsy!). After stating I would make my own images, they said no. It's not handmade enough. Which I was pretty disheartened. Is it really not handmade enough? Or is it because they have strict rules? I mean, making a scrabble tile pendant is not just gluing a piece of paper onto a scrabble tile; it's gluing it, cutting it, securing it with a layer of mod podge, sanding it, adding glaze to it, sanding it some more, and letting it dry for a couple of days (or so I've read).

I asked some friends and aquaintances and apparently, every con is different. Obviously, the one I planned on attending (and one of the oldest, biggest ones ever) wants everything made from scratch. It's strict on the rules. So I'm sad to say, I'm going to drop out of the anime convention and venture out craft shows (which I would like to know if there's any in the DFW area..).

So, on the note of "handmade"... What does 'handmade' mean to you? Is it something completely from scratch? Or is something you put it together with your own hands? Obviously, I'm on a route where it's put together with my own hands, but it's filled with love and time and care. So, is it really handmade? Or did I get help?

Oh I hope I don't lose my way in Etsy...

In with the good, out with the bad

The title says it all. I'm bringing all this "good" in and the "bad" out. I'm so grateful with where I stand right now: job or no job, sales or no sales... I'm so blessed to be a mother of an adorable baby girl, have great friends, a wonderful supporting family, and just have an awesome life. I'm not as down as I would've expected after the final words with my ex-boyfriend. After two hours of talking and crying to my little sis, I felt so better. The next day, I was joyous and it seems like it didn't happen.

Now, back onto my shop (lol sorry about the personal life stuff). From now until about May, I'll be use DD as a "test run" for a HUGE anime convention in Dallas: A-kon. I love A-kon. So great and so much fun! I'm quite anxious for it... So if there are repeats on items, there's a good reason on why. If more people keep buying that one item, it must be a good selling item.

Also, it seems like the goal for shop hearts is met!! Yaaaay! I'm glad people enjoy my shop. :) Keep it up.. close to 500!!

Sales are slow, but I'm not bothered by it. I think I need another 6 sales to meet my August goal.. What will be great is that it goes OVER 15 sales. :D We shall see!!

As I think about it... I'll be doing my next giveaway with 100 sales. :D Dunno of what yet... but I'll think about it as it comes..

Thanks to those who support DD!

Coming soon in future posts: New shop in details, BUSINESS CARDS.

Steppie's Giveaway Contest!

One of the successful shops on Etsy (IMO) has to do with my little sister's favorite animals: pandas. Who doesn't love pandas? They are cute, cuddly, AND they are raccoon cats (yes they are. Look it up). Who is this? Steppie.

Now, the name alone is cute. If you aren't familiar with her, you should be. She makes wonderful T-shirts, prints, rings, etc. I, on the other hand, have not experience any of her wonderful items yet, but I wish to be. And so, she is holding this free giveaway! I'm hoping to win just so I can get a free item. If not, I guess I'll do a bit of splurging ;)

Click on the link below and enter!! It's so great and awesome! Also, the video itself is adorable, I laughed at the first thirty seconds.

First Treasury!

I had a horrid night on Friday, just something personal. Yesterday morning, I woke up the usual amount of emails, 15 or so. Some contained etsy conversations while others are Lilly's baby updates and something I subscribed to (B&N, Borders, american eagle, etc). As I read one of the Etsy convos, I saw two links. I was so curious, I clicked on it. And I realized it led me to a treasury.

I'm in it! Oh my goodness!!! After months of wondering when will be my time (I estimated two years), it happened!! Yaaaaaay!!! Check out the treasury here: Not too SHABBY.

In other news, I received some lovely supplies in the mail on Friday. That's right, it's those Alice in Wonderland themed tea cup set!! I ordered 5 of them. This is one of the few times that I LOVE ebay to death. Shocking, I know. So keep an eye out for a variety of ways for these lovely teacups and pendants!

(For more info on this personal life of boys, just convo me or catch me on chat...)

Motivation and Ideas

For the past few days, I've been stuck. Stuck at the point where I can't make things. Sure, I can just glue the ring base onto a plastic piece, but I couldn't even do that! What was going on?

Then the sales started to came in, which made me happy. But sadly, I didn't seem TOO excited. So I packaged them up and sent them to their destination. Then, my cousin came from CA to pick up my grandmother. While she was here, I took a break to think and gather my thoughts. And it helped! I guess I needed rest and just spend some quality time with the family. Now, my grandmother is gone and so is my cousin.. And the creativity juices are flowing in.

With that being said, sales are great!! I'm so glad people are liking my items and things are looking up! But seriously people, PLEASE PAY WHEN YOU BUY. Or at least contact the seller if you need more time. It irks me. I hope they know my policy on purchasing my items. =/

I'm thinking my goal for this month will be reached. That's what I hope for! Supplies are in and I've been sewing! Also, a new shop might open! Or maybe I'll tack it in with the current shop of Destination Design? Suggestions? The new idea has to do with baked goods (for the holidays! And other occasions if it goes well!).

Also, thank you, Damonique, for putting up the review of the blue rose ring! :D That's so kind of you!! I'm so glad you enjoy it greatly! And of course, I can try and give a matching necklace and earrings! If you are interested, please let me know!

GOAL SO FAR:

-5 sales
-11 more hearts to 450

Looking good... :D

Goals for August

Happy August everyone! :D I'm having a good feeling about this month.. I think it's going to be a good one. I'm feeling a bit excited too, and a bit anxious: little Lilly will be one soon! Ahhh! I now know what other mommies have been raving about "Children grow up too fast". Such a new perspective for me.

Alright, after having sooo many sales lately (to me, more than 10 in the past week is amazing for me haha), I've decided to make a goal for each month, and YOU guys get amazing deals if the goal is reached! How cool is that?

So I'm going to start out small. For this month of August, the goal is:

-15 sales
-have a total of 450 hearts

BOTH GOALS HAVE TO BE REACHED. If the goals are reached, there will be a buy one, get one FREE sales in September!

What do you guys think? Looks like I'll be the busy one :D

Featured and Sales!

To the people who won the giveaway: I have not shipped out the prizes yet. I'm waiting to buy some better bubble mailers to ship them off. Sorry and thanks for being patient!

I would love to mention that I'm featured at a blog! Wahooo!! Check out Leakhena's blog, here.

I want to talk about this sale that totally just made my day. Some know, some don't. But to make it short and simple, my boyfriend and I broke up. If you want details, convo me or email me. Since I was still kind of down in the dumps, this sale really made my day. I listed my ooak Hello Kitty pendant necklace, which sold within an hour! Wowie! This made me happy and just jump for joy! Within that hour, I went to the chatrooms and found Leakhena, which I happily told her about my new item. She said "Oh the teacup? Yeah it's cute!" And I'm like "Wait a min.. I'm talking about the- OMG IT'S GONE!" Haha. I'm pretty special :)

I think that's pretty much it. Got some sales and hoping for more! Just wish Lilly would stay asleep for more than an hour, haha!

Happy crafting and selling, everyone! And Happy Weekend!

What Would You Do?

So recently, I purchased these lovely rement pieces that I've been dying to make into rings and necklaces. Today, I went to check out my favs' shops and found out one of them have already done it already!! So... what would you do? Make it a bit different? Just make them the same way? Contact them? (note: I already contacted them and no reply.. yet..)

It's times like this that I feel horrible :(( I was having an awesome week and now it's going down... Is this bad karma? In the beginning of the work, I had lots of sales! I was soo happy!! I was able to spend some of it on supplies. Then, I went to the Harry Potter premiere with some close friends, which we dressed up and whatnot. It was crowded, and we didn't really enjoy sitting near the front, so we plan on dressing up again and going again.

That same night, I lost my memory card. I remembered where I put it last, but it's not there!! I hope it just fell into my friend's bag. At least it's not as bad as losing my camera like I did during after-prom. Today, I lost my promise ring given by my boyfriend. Not good. I nearly cried when I couldn't find it. I was sure it was near my workstation, but it's not. *sigh* I hope it'll turn up. And then the problem of someone already doing what I wanted to do.. but once I checked out on etsy, some already done it. So I don't feel as bad, but really, if I post up the same thing, they'll call me as a copy-catter or "stealing" their ideas. I don't know what to do.

I'm hitting my low point right now... Only Draco Malfoy will cheer me up. Hahah, totally joking. But seriously, he was pretty damn fine in The Half Blood Prince. *drools a bit*

My giveaway is going to end in four days!! Hurry and enter before it's too late!

Busy Bee

Just a busy bee this week!! Ever since the opening of Destination Design, I've been editing pictures, making more items, and just working my butt off. Of course, I leave more time for my daughter (although she plays by herself now.. doesn't want mommy anymore! T~T). Just keep an eye out at my shop: new items will be added everyday! The possibilities are endless!

Now for a little rant: I went to check the mail today, to see that my packages that I want to ship out yesterday is still in there! Grrr! And around that time, the post office is closed. Makes me so angry! I keep wondering why they don't take it... Do they think it's for me? The address label on it clearly states another address in another state. :( So I'm sorry if the packages aren't shipped... If they don't take it on Monday, I'm driving down there myself and complain the whole way lol.

Alright, more items to be listed today!! Necklaces, earrings, detash items... Off we go!

Thursday, July 9, 2009

Whoa, Sales already?!

So what? I opened on Monday? Today's Wed (technically Thurs) and I made two sales! Wahooo!! Thanks to Leakhena and princesschibi! And a trade! Awesome! I really am trade-friendly. :) I just loooove trades.. Makes my buying needs a bit calm.

Anywho, Hello Kitty Giveaway is still going on. It's the post before this. Check it out. The deadline for entries is July 20! Still plenty of time to enter! Looking good so far!

More items to be uploaded and I'm still creating! Stay tuned!!

Probably five items on Monday, then one each day. Let's see what happens! Please be there for some support! Feedback is great. Just leave a comment! Don't have to buy (unless it's quite to your liking..).

I hope everyone had a wonderful July 4th. I most certainly did. My bf surprised me in taking me out to the movies today by asking me through this ecrypted code thingy. Made me a bit frustrated since I didn't know what to do. Then, came home and baked my booty off. Finally, just chilled and played with my daughter.

Today, I'll be out with my best friend and family, doing a bit grocery shopping and having a nice "welcome home" lunch/dinner with my friend. Hopefully, I can buy some goodies :)

Giveaway is coming on Monday, also! So excited.

Happy sales everyone!

Etsy Chats...

are awesome! I just love interacting with other sellers/buyers and just talk about life. :) Such greatness.

I'm sad to say, but I'm putting off the giveaway D: Hope no one minds!! My best friend came home last night and we just had a blast. Also, my parents will be gone from July 4th to 8th, which means I can go all out on the giveaway without their watchful eye. Sometimes, they tell I spend too much money on cute things.. Now, I have a reason to! Ha! But they don't care, they just want me to save money, which I totally understand. I'm gonna do a certain price limit. :)

For those who are so faithful to Destination Design, I have pictures of my progress!! I don't want to give much away, so I only posted what I need opinions on, or things I'm not confident of. Please help! Click me!

ZombieIrish is an amazing seller. I'm so happy to have traded with her. Her necklace is just way too cute and somehow reminds me of Kingdom Hearts. I dunno why.. but it does. Anywho. She even threw in a ring (at my request when she wanted to add more things) and a cute little necklace for Lilly! How sweet! Lilly loves it, of course, but would rather pull it apart, haha! Thank goodness, I got it out of her hands in time.

And that's that! Just waiting for the packages to come in so I can start decoden-ing! Happy sales, everyone!

Everything is right in the world!

It's true!! So it does take a couple of days or so for my money to be refunded :) and so, I finally did purchase the items and I'm still waiting for my refund. It's day 2 so it should be there tomorrow. Yay!

Also, I got my muse back! Since yesterday, I've been working on lots of clay goodies! So far, it's donuts, macaroons, and pocky! You heard that right, POCKY! Who doesn't love pocky? I already made the tiny stick biscuits, and soon, I'll be making the boxes! Waaah!! Now, I just need to figure out how to configure my clay goodies into jewelry... Or accessories... Necklaces? Earrings? The possibilities are endless!! I even caught up on the Japanese culture.. just a bit. I'm addicted to deco-den now! I already bought supplies and everything! Can't wait until they get here so I can start!! I already spent so much money on the new shop T~T I hope I get it all back! Or maybe half of it when I sell it? Haha.

I received some lovely packages today! But sadly, my little one was being oh-so adorable that I took pictures of her and lowered the battery power. I'm charging it as I type this out so pics of the goodies tomorrow!! :D

I MADE 31 SALES!! 31!! SINCE APRIL!! Wow!! Thanks everyone! To celebrate my 30+ sales, I've decided to do a giveaway. Although, I don't know what to give away!! Any suggestions? I'm thinking maybe a goodie bag (or er.. box) filled with lots of cute stationary, paper, pen, stickers, and the sort.. or maybe a deco-den of their choice? For sure, a giveaway when I close on Friday! I'll be promoting it around and stuff.

Won't be updating much.. since my bff is coming home from California! Yay!! I'm so excited!! There will be a butt load of partying when she comes home. Also, Transformers 2 the movie this weekend! Last weekend, I watched Night at the Museum 2 with my boyfriend and some close friends. Awesome movie. I laughed so hard when the cupids are singing like the Jonas Brothers, haha! Which is quite ironic since the Jonas Brothers were playing here in Arlington at the new Cowboys Stadium that same night! Traffic was horrible! @_@ Can't imagine football season...

PayPal confuses me sometimes...

Hello all! Sorry for not updating much (is anyone reading this?)!! This week has been CRAZY. My bf finally got a day off from working from 9 PM - 5 AM, so we went out after his long needed nap. Of course, darling little one was with us, always chattering away. Then, I started ordering more supplies. I'm hoping they will come in soon!! I can't wait to start making the new products for my shop! Btw, all the items in my shop will still be in the "new" one! It'll just be in clearance OR they will go back to their normal price. Hurry and buy if you don't want the prices to go up again!

Anywho, the title is, of course, referring to PayPal. Is anyone having problems with it lately? Or, maybe mine was just a normal process which I was not familiar with. About two days ago, I purchased a BUTTLOAD of supplies from MimiLoLo with my debit card. Lovely seller, btw. I got the free shipping deal, which she refunded IMMEDIATELY. But oddly enough, I didn't get an email about it! So I convo'ed her and she said she did, with proof. I pondered about this for a while, wondering why it isn't showing up. So I checked PayPal and my bank account. Yesterday, still nothing. Finally, this morning, I checked my bank account and there it is!

Sadly, she refunded ALL my money back because we both got scared that the money is floating out of nowhere. So now, I have to purchase EVERYTHING again once I get all my money back. Now, is it to my PayPal account? Or my bank account? =/ Why must all of this be so confusing? I'm just glad I got my refund back. NOW I WANT MY MONEY BACK!!

Anywho. Will be closing shop once I get all my supplies (other than the MimiLoLo stuff)! Can't wait! But no fear! I'll join the chat rooms and updating my blog everything I get an idea. :) The sneak peeks will be here.. maybe.. hmmm...

Sale Sale SALE!!

The annual Yart Sale is over. Boohoo. During the past weekend, I made 5 SALES! FIVE!! What an accomplishment for Destination Design! And since I'm revamping my shop and not all of them are gone just yet.. I'm continuing my sale! Everything is still 50% off! Get it while it lasts or they are into the trash! Well, hopefully not, but maybe I'll do a giveaway with it? Suggestions?

Now, the question remains: what am I heading over to? What will the new shop hold? Well, I'll continue to work with clay, but I'll add it to more jewelry stuff (necklaces, earrings, rings, etc)! No choices for you guys! What you see is what you get! Either way, I'll list all options! Then, cabochons and plastic galore! Gonna make lovely jewelry items for that. And finally, gonna add my little sister's items (possibly 1000 cranes, bookmarks..). What a make-over!

Until then, I am spending my money like crazy! Spending it all on supplies and things I need that will last me for a pretty long time. I think this will cure my shopping needs.

I'm hoping to join IkkiCon as an artist. Still waiting for reply. :)

Stay tuned!

Friday Features: Candychick

FRIDAY FEATURES PROUDLY PRESENTS:
Candychick (aka The Candy Shoppe) as FEATURED SELLER

Recently, I revived this blog while updating everything I can and signing up for myspace. As I favorited some shops and adding friends, I came across Candychick, or Candice. She helped me with the idea of doing a show and promoting my shop. With her helping me, I decided to return the favor and feature her! So let's welcome her! She is my first featured seller! What a winner! :)

Me: Tell us a bit about yourself.
Candychick: My name is Candice Ware, from Toronto Ontario, Canada. I'm a grad from the animation program at Seneca College this past April. I am working on "The Princess and the Frog", a Disney movie that's coming out on your Thanksgiving. The company I work for is called Yowza at the moment.

Me: Whoa, that sounds pretty neat!! Can't wait for that movie to come out now! So what do you do in your shop? What do you offer?
Candychick: Mini food jewelry. I started doing it for me and would wear it to work (The Body Shop) and almost everyday, people would ask me where I got the ring or where they could get one. So I thought, 'Alright, I guess I should start making them for other people' and that's when I fell upon Etsy in Aug. And that's how I started. What I like to think is different from others is that I scent my items. Most of the time, it's vanilla, but I do have other scents for clients to pick from if they want something customized.

Me: Wowie, that makes me want to buy one now! I love the scent of vanilla! So, describe the process of creating your items: how, when, materials, etc.?
Candychick: I have to be in the mood to want to make something and have to get inspired. That's when I get to work. I pull out my fimo clay and start mixing colors and putting together my mini items. Most of the time, I make more than one so it takes much less time. After the whole baking and cooling, I spray a clear coat of finish so that it's waterproof. On all my fimo items, I make sure to make an extra one for me so I can quality test it. I just want to make sure that I can stand behind all my work.

Me: That's a lot of work, but it seems like it's worth it! So, got other hobbies that you love?
Candychick: Oh yes. I also love to paint and I hope to have a show ith my paintings soon. You can find a lot of work on my deviantart account. I also am part of a gaia, a little online forum community where I draw other people's avis for gaia gold. I have a lot of fun. I do a lot of things I like to keep busy. I want to put more of my painting skills with my photography skills on canvas together, something different.
Me: In your opinion, do you think there's a lot of competition in miniature food jewelry/accessories?
Candychick: I feel that there is on the internet! But I find when I do shows in Toronto, or when I worked in customer service, people would ask me about my minis. They thought it was so innovative that they have never seen anything like it before and they love the idea. So it's all about where you market it.

Me: Very true! Do you have any promotions going on now?
Candychick: Well, I have an ongoing one for anyone that lives in Canada. If you buy over three items, the shipping is free. Also, if you spend over $20, you get a free item. I don't have any other promotions since I have a show coming up.

Me: What's your top 5 favorite bands/singers? And top five websites?
Candychick: Top 5 bands/singers: Tegan and Sara, Paramore, MGMT, Namie Amuro, Akon
Top 5 websites: Gaia online, etsy, twitter, cute overlod, devianart

Me: Awesome! Now, other than your etsy shop, what other shops do you like/love?
Candychick: DecoAlley - she is also from Ontario, I love her work.
beautifulwork - a real sweetheart, sweet woman that sells lots of kawaii items.
esmeraldadesigns - she helped me out when I was new and gave me good davice on how to start a shop.
VulvaLoveLovely - I love this woman's work, what a different way to show off women's beauty! (PARENTAL ADVISE)

Me: Okay, last question, where do you see yourself in ten years?
Candychick: Well, I hope to be married and maybe have a baby if my partner and I are well off. I still want to be working in animation, always painting in shows, and traveling. This fall, I am taking a train to BC and back before I travel anywhere else. I just thought I should travel to my home before I go anywhere else.

Boobie pads and giveaways

Yay! More things I got in the past came in! Whoohoo!!

About a week before mother's day, I did a little shopping to treat myself on my first motherly holiday. Of course, I went to etsy, and remembered meeting BabyOReally. She sells nursing pads for pregnant or lactating moms. Personally, I decided to feed my daughter Lilly with breastmilk the moment I found out I was pregnant. If I knew about etsy AND BabyOReally, I would've bought this sooner!! Anywho. I ordered 7 nursing pads for Mother's Day. I was so excited, that I forgot to read about the 7-10 business days of it made to order. Bah, that's plently of time. One month later, it finally arrived. Although I'm a bit sad it took so long, the moment I saw the packaging and the lovely pads, I didn't care. It was beautifully packaged and came with lovely gifts. Almost immediately, I wore one of them. Then I realized, "oh crap, I'm suppose to blog about this!" Oh well. The one I'm wearing now is this one here: Rhapsody nursing pad.. turquoise with brown polka dots. I must say, it's so soft and comfortable! Much better than disposable nursing pads! I highly recommend this to future moms! But be caution, it does take a long time! So order ahead :) Also, it came with freebies! Tea bag, soap bits, recipes...

I forgot what happened... But I won some sort of giveaway I think... It happened so fast... I saw fifiswhimsies in a chat room, all alone. I didn't even bother to read the room title, I just jumped in. She said that I won, and I'm like "whaaaa?". Anywho, I won! YAAY! I really need to remember what it was about... Anywho, the prize came in today and it's sooo adorable! A lovely reindeer plush ornament to hang on your Christmas tree! Whoohoo!! Wonderfully handpainted and lovely details. Also, so cute!

FS room... It's an addiction sometimes. At the time, I had chapped lips and paradisesunrise was up with great deals. I thought "What the hey, let's buy some chapstick". I didn't get FS (of course), so like it matters. After browsing around, I landed onto my favorite drink flavor: strawberry lemonade. I got it around 1 PM today... it's now 6 PM and my lips are still kind of moist. I bet if I put on some more now, it'll be even better. Lovely and works well (so far)!
In other news: a HUGE storm passed the Fort Worth-Dallas area today. It was quite scary, and made poor little Lilly cry all night. Thankfully, it's gone and I hope to get a good night's rest. If not, I'm doomed.

CABOCHONS GALORE!

(Two posts in one day?! I must be on a roll!!)

I just love love LOVE cabochons.. so cute and wonderful :) I think I was browsing through Time Machine 2 on etsy, and came across one of the listings that just sold. And I was like "Oooo, cabochons.. let's check out this shop!!" Hence, I entered Tomoko.

Like the title says, cabochons galore! Lots of sets, even though, as it says, it's B-grade. I didn't care, I wanted it! So I purchased some and waited patiently... That was on June 4. Today (June 10), it arrived! What fast shipping!! I got so excited, that I just opened it right outside, haha! The mowers outside was wondering why I was so weird... It was just so cute and outstanding! Some did look like it's B-grade, but most aren't! I'm highly satisfied and can't wait to turn these into lovely jewelry or decorative stuff!
Even got some freebies, whoohoo!! :D

Btw, I'll mention this again: YART SALE!! Everything's gotta go and I'm making a whole new shop! :D Thanks all for your time!

I want to hear your opinion/suggestions!

After talking with Candychick, I've decided to do a show. And to start off, I'm going to try and get into an anime convention down in Austin TX. It's about a good 5 hour drive, and I don't mind one bit. I LOVE Austin. And not for 6th Street! I'm a Longhorns fan and have lots of friends in UT right now.

The anime convention is called IkkiCon. It looks pretty good also the booth costs are not too bad. It starts in January, a bit of time away. But it's something that I can prepare for without rushing.

So, what do you guys think? Any suggestions on how to make this somewhat successful or any advice? I would like to hear them all!

Twilight inspired necklace, Lolita style mirror, and much more...

I LOVE Thursdays $10 Trade Game. It's because of this that I started to enjoy trading. I never realized the beauty of it until now. Last week on Thursday (5/28), I selected queenjane0 as one of my top four choices. Me, I'm a Twilight fan, yes I am. I read Twilight when it first came out, waaaay before the huge rave. And so, I chose this Twilight Inspired Bella Swarovski Crystal Necklace. It definitely reminded me of Bella! Sadly, I didn't enjoy the Twilight movie... But I am looking forward to New Moon. Yay for Jacob (*ducks from Edward fans*)!! Don't get me wrong, I love Edward. But as of the movie, I think Jacob is waaay hotter (Mike Newton is hawt!).

As of recently, I've been losing motivation on clay-making, but I still continue to make them. Now, I move onto cabochons or cute little plastic objects, dollhouse miniatures, and making them into jewelry (re-ment). As my first start, I made hairclips. A week before that, I ordered online a hand-held mirror from SweetCandyRibbons. It's an Anna Sui medium mirror, black with a rose in the middle. It looks so gorgeous just by itself, but I must decorate it in order to sell it online! Haha. I just can't wait to start on it. :) Along with that, I bought two cute chocolate bar phone charms. So cuuute!! I'm planning on using it for another use, since I realize that iPhones don't have a thing for charms! Unless they do lol! With that purchase, I received some freebies: cabochon roses! Awesome! And a stamp card for the customer rewards program. Definitely going back there soon! Wonderful service and fast shipping! What's better than that?

Also, I'm starting to design a business card, with ShoeBox21 helping me out! More on that later.

Coming Today: Hair Clips!

I have never done hairclips before, and I was quite excited when I got some in the mail. :) Just a nice, simple hair clip with a cabochon attached. I'm doing simple stuff until I get more money and I'll experiment with resin clay or paper clay.

That's just a small preview of the hairclips. More are going to be uploaded later tonight. Have I mention how much editing pictures suck? Getting quite bit more time consuming.

Until then, anyone have any ideas how to make whipped cream just from clay? No mold or anything??

Well then...

Currently: chatting in etsy chat :)
Working on..: bubble mailers. TONS of bubble mailers. yaaaaay

I promise, I'll update this more!!!

Recently, I've been thinking of what to do with this blog.. no one reads it since I don't "advertise" it and that just makes me feel like I shouldn't update. Well, no more! I'll do it and I'll force myself to do it!!

Although this is for my shop only, I'll talk a little bit of my daily life. For the full out version, just visit my personal blog. :) That's all for now. Tata!

Back and Ready to Rock!

After a nice weekend with friends and family, I feel refreshed! I just couldn't wait to get back into making little charms and sweet treats! When I say "I just couldn't wait", I started around one in the morning until three AM! Luckily, my darling daughter was still asleep.

USAGI CUPCAKE CHARM

Head on over to my etsy shop and check it out! And soon (to be uploaded later today), doughnuts and cubed fruit.

Yes, cubed fruit. Just sit back and find out!

Small Hiatus

Thursday is one of my best friend's birthday, so I'm not making anything for this week. The celebration is not until Friday, but I'm preparing some cake and goodies! :) This is my first trial run as a "cake decorator". Wish me luck! Also, this is another way to pay more attention to my daughter and not keeping her occupy while I make little clay goodies.

Until then, I'm off for this week and will start making more clay decadents on Monday. See you all then!

P.S. Do I put my shop on vacation mode? Maybe it'll be fine on it's own...
